inspired

Every year comes January, for the past 15 years, I am as excited as my students. Because O level results are usually released in the first/second week of January.

Why do I still feel this sense of anticipation?  I should get used to it by now?

It must be the journey a student and teacher share for 2 years (and for some, it is 4 whole years). Once, I had a student whom I taught for 9 whole years since she was Primary 2. These journeys are precious to me because of the consistent effort, trials and errors we had together.

Very grateful and honoured to grow with my students.

My good teacher’s intuition, willingness to listen and to take action to help my student understand & have an effective lesson is what I have to offer.

I am inspired by students who persevere to overcome their challenges i.e. from F9 to B3, from E8 to A2 etc. When they persevere and reflect, they gain good grades and feel empowered to learn anything.

This is the first time I am sharing these personal notes and messages. I was told it is heart-warming to share real Thank You notes 🙂

“Regains confidence in her learning…. it is more long lasting than the grade improvement!”

“Really happy that their effort pays off and they overcome their challenges.”

“I remember this consistent student (and humble). It is mostly her effort.”

“A student who was pessimistic and Ms Kit constantly tried to give lots of encouragement. (Student who tended to be careless and messy, definitely has potential)”

“Her perseverance is admirable, I will always remember. This note was given to me before her score of B3 was known.”

“Parent’s satisfaction is an added motivation.”

This was funny. He texted his English tutor and told him about Physics. Must have been feeling on cloud nine!

Some students get shaken easily, hope they feel empowered and more confident of themselves!

Haha! Some students think I am looking for Ä grade. I just want to know how they are doing and if they are happy with their own effort.

Consistent effort….. A1 still makes one smile!

(She couldn’t sleep after knowing she got her choice!)

Aspires to be a writer and gets the subject combination she dreamt of. So excited when she updated me.(She couldn’t sleep after knowing she got her choice!). She is the one who had the 9 years journey with me.

Some students did not journey with me up to their O levels. One told me at the end of Secondary 3 that he is now confident of his Physics (he has been scoring 80% and above) and would like to have more time to focus on his Humanities. Another student decided to stop Physics tuition after preliminary examination because he is confident of revising Physics on his own and can now focus on other subjects. I am proud of them when they regain confidence to learn anything!

Reading these messages inspires me all over again.
